Is this a Full Unit or Mini Unit? Winter Games is a mini unit with a twist! The Teacher’s Guide includes four lessons, designed to be completed in one week. However, the Viewing Guide contains pages for 20 different events, which can be completed as you watch the entire competition.
What is this unit about? Every four years, athletes from around the world come together to compete in these wintry events as the audience cheers in delight. Now you can join in, too! In the four-lesson long Teacher’s Guide, we explain the history and origin of the games, what it's like to host them, the ins and outs of competing at such a high level, and more. Covering the content is just the first step, though. The most fun part of the games is watching them, so check out the interactive Viewing Guide to go alongside the teaching. We’ve taken 20 of the most exciting sports and turned each one into a single page to focus on as you watch along, complete with tidbits of information like required gear, how to play, and rules of the game. At the bottom of every page, your student will record information about the outcomes of the events they watch. If you find yourself all in and want even more, check out the Resource Library in our app where you can download and print as many extra tracking sheets as you’d like!• Level 1 is for pre-reader and early readers, with large illustrations and a few interesting facts.
• Level 2 is designed for early to upper elementary students, with vibrant images and a bit more information.
• Level 3 is designed for middle-to-high schoolers, with extra background knowledge and the opportunity to draw the flags of the winning countries
Print-at-home instructions: All digital files are designed to be printed double sided. Blank pages are intentional for messy art or cutouts, but are not marked to save on ink costs. Print from the free Adobe PDF reader and use the 'print as image' setting for best results.
