There are a lot of people out there who think that homeschooling their children is out of the question. Maybe it’s because they feel unqualified or are facing barriers that seem impossible to overcome. It is easy for these thoughts and beliefs about homeschooling and your teaching abilities to go unstated and unaddressed. But I think it’s important to say them out loud, think and pray about them intentionally, and speak truth to any lies we may believe.
Let's start by challenging a message we hear constantly: "You are enough just as you are." While this holds beautifully true for salvation (God absolutely accepts us as we are), I've found this mindset can become problematic when facing my very real human limitations. The truth? I fail. I make mistakes. I'm not enough on my own. And that's precisely the point. The whole purpose is reliance on God—recognizing that I need Him and that on my own, I simply cannot do it all. I'm merely human. I have human responses. I sometimes say the wrong thing. I get emotional, frustrated, impatient. Those are human traits we all share.
