On the Savanna, a nine-week study from our Ready to Read series, is the last book in the full-year program, exploring the adventurous wilderness of the African savanna. From acacia trees and ostriches to black mambas and baboons, the animals that live on these grasslands will fascinate your children and pull them into lesson after lesson. It has been given a fresh, clean look while still maintaining our Gather ’Round flexibility, so you can start anywhere in the program to meet your child’s developmental needs. This new and improved version will introduce children to friends like Chase the Cheetah and Zoe the Zebra to help them make meaningful connections with phonics and learning to read. The Bible Connection section has also been totally revamped, with each age-appropriate devotional tying directly into the content from the lesson, allowing even the youngest learners to see how God cares for them and the world He created. Ready to Read covers all subjects, including math, with short, engaging lessons and hands-on activities your kids will love. The reading portion of this fourth installment focuses on phonics rules (like vowels that work together to make long sounds), compound and sight words, consonant blends, digraphs, sentence structure, and reading fluency. Math pages introduce big-picture concepts like telling time, multi-digit addition and subtraction, money, and temperature. Students will also complete a time capsule project, and our striking new watercolor illustrations will keep even the youngest learners coming back for more.
