For the first time ever, we have created a step-by-step writing program to go along with one of our units. This book report Writing Track is designed to go along with the Underground to Canada unit. It includes 20 lessons that go in depth into structuring paragraphs, citing quotes, analyzing good writing, and more!
Take a look at the pictures to see the table of contents and what is taught as well as a brief sample. Lessons should be able to be done mostly independently and take about 10 minutes or so a day. I recommend having students do their lesson before you read in the Teacher's Guide, allowing them to use what they learned to help take detailed notes for their report while they listen.
This Writing Track includes 3 levelled approaches to a book report, allowing you to use it for any age:
Level 1: A paragraph
Level 2: A 2 paragraph (1 page) report
Level 3: A 5+ paragraph report (essay style)
You will need to print one per student. The appendix includes levelled writing lines as well as levelled outlines for them to choose from.
